Evelyn, or Evie as she's more commonly known, was born in a small town. Her mother ran out on her father shortly after her birth, which left him to fend for himself in caring for a newborn baby girl. Not having any support where he was, he decided to move to New Panteon. His wife, or former wife as it were, had family there. He knew her mother would help him care for his baby, and he started leaving Evie with her from the very beginning. Of course he would come home and pay attention to his daughter when he could, but as a single father trying to make a successful home for his child, he didn't have much time to spend at home. Evelyn's grandmother, Tatian, was her primary fixture growing up. She taught her granddaughter everything she knew, about life and being a good person, and Evelyn began to view her as the mother she'd always longed for.
It wasn't a perfect life, but it was pretty close. Tatiana taught her granddaughter how to appreciate everything, and Evelyn learned a lot of her personality from the woman she spent most of her days with. Everything was reverent where the older woman was concerned, and it was no surprise that Evie developed a gentle and almost hippie-like persona. The two spent a lot of their time outside, and there was never a stressful moment between them. Evie enjoyed the free-spirited lifestyle she got when with her grandmother, though things were vastly different when she was home with her father. Occasionally she would stay there when he wasn't away on business or at work, but the majority of her time was spent with Tatiana. This was part of the reason why it came as such a shock when Evie discovered her grandmother was sick. She didn't understand how they could spend so much time together and still not know a disease was slowly stealing her beloved grandmother's life from her, but all the signs were there. The fatigue, the weakness, the slowness in her movements when they went outside to dance under the stars. It all tied together once Evelyn learned of the disease from her father, but by then it was too late. Tatiana died only days after, and Evelyn was devastated.
The only thing that helped her through the grief were her two best friends. Jessica and Eliza were there for her in the aftermath of the tragedy, and they helped keep her afloat when sadness threatened to overwhelm her. Normally it was Evelyn who was the strong one, the one who thought of others first and took care of them, but she gladly gave up this role in the months following her grandmother's death. It took a little bit, but eventually the sadness receded. Evie was able to return to her former self, living with her father predominately now, when she wasn't at Jessica or Eliza's. The memories of her beloved grandmother never faded, but she was able to manage them better and move on with her life. She focused more on school and her friends after that, channeling her grief into ways of distraction, and is quite happy with how things are going now.
